good to know about fingerprints
Babies and Young Children
We recommend waiting until the child is at least 6-8 months old to take their impression as their fingerprint lines are too fine to detect in the impression.
Older Individuals
In some older adults who have worked their fingers living life, their fingerprint lines might be so faint. In this case, we suggest using different fingers to test the best one with the most detail. Alternatively, you can use their knuckle for a print instead. You can always use a toe print too!
the process
Once we receive your order, we will ship out a Fingerprint Impression Kit within 1 - 5 business days.
The impression kit contains the instructions on how to create your custom fingerprint impression(s). Once finished, re-use the original packaging and ship back to us using the included label.
DETAIL
We want to make sure you have the highest level of detail so if the lines are not visible, we will reach out with a request to re-do. In that case, we will ship out a new kit to you via ground mail at no additional cost. What you see in the impression clay is exactly what will transfer into metal. It is important to re-do your clay impressions until you are satisfied with the level of detail.
The overall process once we receive the kit takes between 2-5 weeks.
Engraving
You can add custom engraving for an additional cost of $20 per piece onto any back. We engrave in a block font of up to 3 characters on the back of the final fingerprint. For larger pieces, additional space is available - Please email us for requests of more characters.
Your Fingerprint Mold
We create a mold of your fingerprint impression before casting and hold the mold on file for future use. When you receive your completed piece, you will receive a card with the model name of your piece to reference for any future orders. These molds will remain on file for up-to 5 years.
Shaping your print
During shaping, we use our discretion on what we think looks best. This means that no shape will ever be alike and sometimes the shape will be more oval or circular depending on how each impression was taken. If you have a specific preference on this, please email us.
